The polymer strands extruded from a die head flow on to a guide plate which is flooded with water. This guide plate is grooved longitudinally to separate and guide the individual strand. The strands of molten material guided in the grooves and surrounded by cooling water are fed by gravity to the draw-in section of the granulator.
